…On View are cool, atmospheric abstractions by Bruce Dean. Working with muted grays, magentas, blues and pinks, Dean executes what could be described as high-tech sunsets. A loose geometric grid is broken up with a recurring fan/shell configuration that looks as if it was applied with a squeegee. This is staunchly traditional work, steeped in the tenets of modern painting. It’s also as lush and pretty as any self respecting West Coast art should be. You can see the Pacific in these pictures.
